Clewlines, in green, and buntlines, in red.

Clewlines are lines that are used to handle a sail. Clewlines are connected to the outer lower corners of a sail, through the upper corners, then through blocks and fairleads to the deck. Several buntlines are attached to the middle part of the sail. This allows crewmembers to take in a sail from the deck.
