HMS Clorinda was a frigate assigned to Horatio Hornblower’s first command as an Admiral, the post of Commander-in-Chief of the West Indies station.
The Clorinda is commanded by Sir Thomas Fell, a lantern jawed post captain who is short on cash due to the extravagant spending of Lady Fell. Capt. Fell is disliked by Hornblower for no real describable reason, although Hornblower does ultimately ensure that Capt. Fell will prosper from his command under Hornblower.
The Clorinda assisted in the capture of a slave ship after a chase around the Southern Caribbean near Puerto Rico.
The Clorinda is mostly employed on anti slaving and anti piracy policing of the Caribbean as is all of Hornblowers West Indies squadron.
